Original: Off Course
Title: Off Course
What: Original script adapted from one scene of "Off Course" (
witchesreign fanfic)
Rating: PG
Words: 323
Summary: Undercover agents Tom and Olivia kind of screwed up their relationship.
Notes: Written for a scriptwriting assignment limited to one page. Fandom references taken out, teehee.
Sample: Liv, there are twelve-year-olds taller than you.
Thomas and Olivia sit opposite each other in an otherwise empty train carriage, neither making eye contact until Thomas speaks.
THOMAS About yesterday... We split a bottle of wine. How much do you remember?
OLIVIA Most of it. It’s a little vague between when it started raining and being back on base, but I assume that was just the ride back.
THOMAS Pretty much. We got ice cream, but that’s about it.
Pause.
THOMAS I’m sorry about... You know. I should have remembered you can’t handle as much alcohol as me; I should have looked after you.
OLIVIA It’s fine. I’m a big girl—
THOMAS Liv, there are twelve-year-olds taller than you.
OLIVIA You know what I mean.
THOMAS You were drunk and I took advantage—
OLIVIA I wasn’t that drunk, Tom. I mean, that wasn’t Punch Tom in the Sternum Olivia. If I didn’t want to kiss you, I could have had you on the floor before you could blink.
THOMAS (looking elsewhere) Then why didn’t you?
OLIVIA Because I liked it. It was fun. It’s been a really long time. And you’re a good kisser, Tom! But I have to say, that was one hell of a way to prove you’re not gay.
THOMAS I wasn’t trying to prove I’m not gay! (pause) I like you, Olivia.
Olivia pats his shoulder sympathetically.
OLIVIA Oh, Tom, this happens all the time in the arts, people playing lovers getting into relationships out of character. This is way more intense than a show or even a TV shoot; it was probably bound to happen.
THOMAS I liked you long before this stupid undercover assignment. Way back when we were cadets, when you were this spoiled rich girl whose dad finally thought you needed some discipline.
Pause. Thomas finally looks back at Olivia.
THOMAS What are you thinking, Liv?
Long pause.
OLIVIA I think we should concentrate on our assignment for now.
THOMAS Of course.
